11 Fall Must-Haves

In honor of the official start to fall, at least as of this Friday, we wanted to share 11 items to not only help complete your wardrobe, but also to ensure that you are always looking your absolute best. There’s nothing like putting those swimsuits away and finally pulling out your favorite, go-to chunky sweater. Pumpkin (yes, we said it) comes back into our lives just as the air begins to feel crisp again, and we find ourselves going out of our way to step on those extra crunchy leaves. The world around us becomes the most gorgeous shades of orange and red before what is bound to be a dreadfully long and dead winter. We would hate to call it our favorite of the seasons, as we are feeling particularly biased at the moment, but it just may be that.

Here are our 11 must-haves for the gorgeous season ahead…

A Pair of Go-To Boots – If there is one type of shoe you will wear in the fall, it’s a great pair of boots. And while we tend to stock up on this particular item, having one versatile pair will get you through the season just fine.

A Great Scarf – Perfect for layering with a jacket or coat when headed to the pumpkin patch. We love a bigger option, like a blanket scarf, to keep you perfectly warm and cozy.

A Camel Colored Coat – Since this can tend to be a good piece to invest a little more in, we suggest buying one that will match everything. A camel coat is a great option, and one that you will turn to all season.

A Pair (or Two) of OTK Socks – We have these in black, gray, and white, and will probably snag a few more this season. They add something special to a mini skirt or dress, and they’ll keep your legs warm once things officially cool off (and help if you “forgot” to shave your stems the night before ;)).

A Rich, Leather Bag – A simple, black bag is a year-round staple, but a rich red, orange, or brown bag is essential for fall. I love leather as an option to provide a texture difference, since you will typically be sporting it with a sweater or coat when you’re out and about.

A Cozy, Chunky Sweater – This will be on our list every single year, but for good reason. It’s a cute, easy option to throw on with a pair of jeans and boots and head out the door. Done and done.

A Plaid Skirt – Ever since seeing Love Story with Ali MacGraw, I have realized the importance of a plaid skirt in the fall. Such a classic. And will go fabulously with those over the knee socks from above. 🙂

A White Button-Up – This is an essential for every season, but works incredibly well in the fall, since I tend to go a little more preppy. Throw it on under a sweater or dress, or paired with a cute mini skirt.

A Baker Boy Hat – We are SO in love with this trend right now! They work well with the slightly more preppy vibes of fall, and also help on those bad hair days.

A Suede, Moto Jacket – Suede is super cool this fall, and we love the ability to be able to wear it from day to night. Throw it on over a white turtleneck and jeans, or over a fun, patterned dress. Either way, you’ll notice compliments flying your way.

A Turtleneck – In the past, turtlenecks received a bad rap. Maybe it was because our mothers forced us to wear them underneath items to stay warm, and none of the cool kids ever seemed to wear them. No longer is that the case. Along with a white button-up, I’d probably wear a turtleneck every day if I could.
